Hello, I am Shemeka Frazier Sorrells
I use my passion for social justice, deep & innovative thinking, and commitment to creating equitable & sustainable solutions
with & on behalf of marginalized people
which inspires & motivates executives, professionals, individuals and community members to positively impact system change.
For over 20 years,
I have focused on addressing the needs of dis-invested populations creatively through service delivery, program development, policy analysis, project management, counseling, consulting and grant-making. I have led strategic direction & oversight of child welfare, mental health, supportive housing, and homeless outreach programs and initiatives. I’m obsessed with helping others
and doing so through eclectic means. I am a social service professional, bonus mother, wife, daughter and sister.. trying to live a life of impact & balance with diverse interests in child welfare, traveling, race equity, history, antiques and well-being. I share my life experiences in hope that one person will be helped because he or she reads what I wrote.
My passion meets purpose
through Blk Child Welfare, a forum to support & drive equitable outcomes for Black children and families. It is out of my devotion to the healing of my community and life’s mission to improve our well being, I am the Foundress of this initiative.
